The Ministry of Land Use and Housing played host to the Mauritian delegation for the eighth edition of the Technical meeting of the Seychelles-Mauritius Technical Committee held from Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st May 2014. As is habitually the case this was later followed by the Fourth edition of the meeting of the Joint Commission of the Extended Continental Shelf held on Thursday 22nd May 2014 at 1000 hrs.
The Ministry of Land Use and Housing has announced that Government has approved a new Policy on Alienation of Land and the Management and Sale of State Land.
This new Policy whichis also accompanied by a new Villas Policy, comes after the announcement madeby Government last year to discontinue the sale of freehold land in Seychellesto Non-Seychellois and is one which provides some flexibility on foreignownership of land and one which is at the same time conducive to both foreignand domestic investment. Subject to meeting certain criteria, and sanction being granted, Non-Seychellois may be able to acquire freehold land which is held in private ownership only.
The Ministry of Land Use and Housing will this year join the rest of the world in commemorating the International GIS Day on Wednesday 20th November 2013.
